Terms of Use

⚠ DRAFT — needs attorney review

Effective date: To be determined
Last updated: October 2026

1. Acceptance

By installing or using Open Design, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the software.

2. License Grant

Subject to payment of applicable fees, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Open Design on the number of seats specified in your subscription.

3. Design Aid Disclaimer

Open Design is a design aid, not a replacement for professional engineering judgment. All output must be reviewed, verified, and stamped by a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) before submission for permit or construction. No warranty of code compliance is provided or implied.

4. Engineer of Record

The engineer of record is solely responsible for all design decisions. Open Design assists with device placement, sizing, routing, and code checking, but the final responsibility for the design rests with the licensed professional.

5. Intellectual Property

Open Design writes standard Revit elements to your model. We claim no ownership of your design output. Your models, drawings, and design data remain yours.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Open Design Labs shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from the use of the software, including but not limited to errors in placement, sizing, or code compliance.

7. Termination

Either party may terminate this agreement at any time. Upon termination, your license to use Open Design ends. Your existing Revit models are unaffected — no proprietary data is embedded.
